Battle of Wounded Knee (Yorkshire Dales take 2)

Up on Menwith Hill practising for the climbs to come.
Last week's sixty left me with a sore knee, which meant I missed spinning classes last week, but I thought it had gone away. Thirty-five miles on Sunday up in the Yorkshire Dales again and it's come back so I need to take it easy for a while.

Tech let me down again so two segments recorded with a missing bit in the middle. Overall 35.5 miles in 3h:15m, ave. speed 10.9 mph with a maximum of 35 mph, and plenty of <5 mph in bottom gear.

Ups and Downs and through the Clappers

My first 60 mile ride in training on the hottest day of the year so far took me on a clockwise tour from St Albans, skirting Luton and taking in Dunstable Downs and the Sharpenhoe Clappers. Mostly on country lanes, it was a delightful ride, briefly delayed by about thirty vintage tractors out on a run in Bedfordshire. As I mentioned last time, even in the Home Counties height gain can be comparable with the Scottish Highlands where my route will take me through rather than over the hills, and backing up this point today's run involved 3,418 ft or 1042 m of climbing (and according to Garmin, even more calories!)
